PENCA NEGRA

For the design of three different mezcals—Azul, Negra, and 420—I aimed to emphasize their Mexican roots by incorporating the agave plant. Through extensive research into the history of mezcal, I discovered a story of the creation of mezcal and how it was believed that god casted down a lightning bolt at the agave plant, which inspired elements of the design. I developed a simple and modern aesthetic with textural elements, creating patterns on the bottles that are both contemporary and reminiscent of traditional Mexican textiles. Each variant features a unique logo: Negra's logo is black with a lightning bolt at the base of the agave plant, Azul's logo is blue and mirrored from Negra's, and 420's logo is green with a weed shape at the base of the agave plant.
